Popcorn is
the very latest addition to the Davey household. Popcorn is a Congo African Gray Parrot
from parents from Zaire. Popcorn was bred at Birds & Such II aviaries in Ocala,
Florida owned by Tom and Karen
Nemevrosky. Popcorn is within a few days different in age
from Skippy the blue Quaker Parrot but is so much larger.
Popcorn is female and is growing and learning at a fast rate. She
started vocalizing and talking while still at Tom's but has started picking up new sounds
and words. I will add sounds to the site as they are prepared.
Note... Our beloved Popcorn is no longer with us. She escaped in
March of 2000. A lady found her close to our home and, even though she
knows she is our beloved pet, refuses to return her to us. Needless to
say, we aren't happy about that but are unable to force the issue. Since
the lady lives in another county and took Popcorn to her home we are not
able to force her to return the bird and the authorities won't
assist.
It wasn't long ago when, if you had branded animals (leg band), you
had a legal right to have your property or livestock returned to you. I
guess our society does not see personal property or livestock as value
to us anymore and will now allow it's theft. This particular person had
no intension of returning our pet to us, in fact she has probably
already sold our precious Popcorn to someone else just to put gas in her
Mercedes.
