  Stanley
The "Tool Time" Builder Bird

How much "Stuff" will fit in a 12" x 15" bird cage?
Stanley the Builder Quaker Bird tries to find out.

(see below for what the cage held)

Stanley Loves to Build
Stanley is a little Quaker Parrot who just loves to build in his cage. He's almost 4 now and has displayed some of the most unusual talent for building with almost anything he can get his beak around and fly off with. It's difficult getting pictures of a flying bird but here are attempts.

Stanley's QuakerVille, The Builder
Stanley and Max, the Rosella, live in our Bedroom. Stanley loves to grab things off of the bed and fly them over to his cage and stuff it inside. Here, Stanley has stolen my necktie and is flying cageward. I happened on this one day by accident and was very surprised

On another occasion I was getting dressed and placed a coat hangar on the bed after removing my shirt from it. A moment later it was skyward, headed for Stanley's cage. We have been surprised several times by Stanley inside the closet rifling the clothes looking for loose hangars.

One day I looked inside his cage and found three plastic hangars hooked and entangled.

Stanley is very aggressive when it comes to building. He drags and tugs ....

.... and drags and tugs and pulls and grunts the entire time. Stanley has a lot of strength and power in those little legs. His wings are powerful too. He tries to fly objects that are much heavier than he. So far he drops to heavy objects to the floor but I know that with practice he'll be able to carry the heavy stuff too.

After a long hard afternoon of building Stanley rests on his rope perch. A new found building treasure is stuffed in the cage ready for another building session.

Most of the time there are unusual "things" protruding from Stanley's cage. This picture shows a maroon coat hangar on the deck and several others lodged inside. Look closely and you will see Stanley dragging a newly stolen tie inside. These coat hangars have been great toys for my buddy Stanley.

Contents of Cage
Here's what was still in the cage when I cleaned it. 15 plastic hangars, 45 rawhide bones, assorted plastic toys - cars - mirrors - etc, several plastic chains, white belt, 12 long wooden dowels, several short dowels, assorted cage hardware, 3 foot rawhide lace, yellow buddy, several wash cloths, a hand towel, food bowls and anything else that belonged to Max the Rosella that he could steal from Max's cage.

The above photos were taken with the Digital Casio LCD still camera. They were processed with Corel Photo-Paint

QuakerVille was started in 1995 and has operated as a personal non-profit web site since that time. I am experimenting to see if associating with Amazon will enable me to continue to maintain QuakerVille as a high volume web site.

The QuakerVille sites are rated G for the entire family,
 including your parrot, to enjoy!
