The shots below are Stanley's glamour shots. If Stanley the Quaker were a model, these would be his the "Cover Bird" shots for his magazine cover.

These photos are some of the very early photos of Stanley at a young age. He was so beautiful at that age. He had such wide eyes and his feathers were so perfect. Over the years Stanley has had a feather illness that has caused him to pluck a little and his feathers do not look as full and beautiful. His beak is a little rough due to "beaking out" with the rest of the flock to stay the Alpha bird, after 13 years he is still Alpha. ... of the house.

I have used these particular photos in many places both on the web and in print to illustrate just how beautiful these birds are and to show a little of their personalities.  Stanley represents Quaker "Monk" parrots well in his look as well as personality. Stanley is well loved in this house and his well being is placed as high on our list as humanly possible. Yes, he is spoiled and knows it. He is pampered and knows it. Since the rest of the flock has moved into his room he has not been the total center of the Davey household but close to it.  Frankly, if I had to do it all over again I would try to not get attached to so many birds because, even though Stanley was our first and most loved indoor socialized bird I know we have grown apart a bit.

A really wondrous feeling is to cuddle Stanley next to my chest in the palm of my hand as he lowers his head, fluffs his feathers for me to scritch his little neck. When he is with me he never shakes or is fearful in any way like some of the other birds. Stanley is truly my little buddy.  For all of you with young birds take a lot of photos, record their chatter and noises, play with them, love on them. They are precious souls.

"Cover Bird"

This pose has been used on many Quaker Parrot related publications and web sites. If we can ever get the post office to use a Quaker Parrot on a postage stamp, this will be the pose :-)

st-1100-a.jpg (21740 bytes) Here is the "I'm happy and don't bother me" pose. I'm a Quaker Parrot.

This is the Stanley pose for the cover of

PEEK - A - BOO

TO YOU
st-1103.jpg (54601 bytes) Here is the "I can't believe I'm sitting on a tree" pose. Stanley has never liked to sit in trees. You would think that it's natural for him to like trees but he has always been so afraid of any tree has has to come in contact with.
st-1104.jpg (54862 bytes) Quaker Parrots are very good at keeping their nails clipped. Sometime you have to help a little but many Quaker Parrots will do it themselves.
st-1108.jpg (42328 bytes) Time to clip those nails. I do have perfect balance you know.
st-1107.jpg (50461 bytes) Stanley the Quaker Parrot is a pretty bird with big dark round eyes. Some Quaker Parrots have oval eyes.

This picture was taken very close with a very large lens. The face is very clear and the background is out of focus.

QuakerVille was started in 1995 and has operated as a personal non-profit web site since that time. I am experimenting to see if associating with Amazon will enable me to continue to maintain QuakerVille as a high volume web site.

The QuakerVille sites are rated G for the entire family,
